What is FAMILY? (Part 1 & 2 )

What is Family?

(Part 1. Nov 5, 2023. 11:28pm)

Family is everything to “me” Always has been and always will be. Allah has blessed “me” with family and

children in my travels from Newport News, Va., to the Shores of The Gambia, West Africa. So, I think I just

might have a little understanding of what it means to say, “We are Family.

The “English” dictionary describes the family as 1. a group of one or more parents and their children living

together as a unit. 2. all the descendants of a common ancestor.

The Arabic word ‘usra’ [family] is derived from the words denoting unity, closeness and protection.

The word refers to a group of people connected through close ties that keep them together and

maintain their unity.

The African family consists of a man, a wife (or wives), and children. The family could also consist of

adopted people from other families. Relatives from a family of the same descent or lineage form a

kinship group.

Taking all these definitions into consideration, let me first start with what family is Not to “me.”

It is not a birth certificate. That’s a blood contract. I have one of those. My father disavowed “me” till

his death and his will. So don’t bring me that definition. Thank God my mother was a righteous

woman. Looking closely, you can find blood-related folk that aren’t family.

It is not a marriage contract between a man, a woman, and the court. That to “me” is simply a three-

party agreement. And that is why you must pay them hundreds of dollars to break it. Have you ever

noticed what the Minister has to say, by the power invested in me by GOD and the State of such and such?

That State/Government now sits in the place of God. And that’s why so many American families are

broken because God is not at the center of the family.

It is not a friendship. I hear so many people today saying. What’s up, Fam? Like it’s the new catchphrase. You have to watch that “English” closely. “All descendants of a common ancestor.” Nope, you

are not my family that easy. Hell’ in that case, we ALL humans have a common ancestor. But I know

some principalities, powers, and rulers of a dark world that are spiritually wicked and live in high places. I

damn show don’t see them as family.

For “me,” I’m an African Muslim in development. So, over time, a family has evolved into more than just a

certificate, a contract, a kindship, or friendship for “me.” For “me,” family is everything and includes

everything. It doesn’t reside in a box for a cookie cutter to cut and carve each one identically. It grows in

time and finds its own identity. It is unconditional love. Do you stop loving your son or daughter because

they are gay? Did you disown them? I call you a damn fool. The book says: “he without sin cast the first

stone.” Too bad you can only break a mirror.

Jesus knew what family was. He was passing out his father’s “inheritance” one day to HIS family and

reminded them; “I was hungry, and you fed me; I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink; I was homeless,

and you gave me a room, I was shivering, and you gave me clothes, I was sick and you stopped to visit, I

was in prison, and you came to me.” And even they had to ask the question, ‘Master, what are you

talking about? When did we ever see you hungry and feed you thirsty and give you a drink? And when

did we ever see you sick or in prison and come to you? They didn’t know what family really was. So Jesus

quickly showed them what A REAL family looks like.

“Verily I say unto you, inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have

done it unto me.” (KJV)

Family Part 2

Gen 25 8-9

Then Abraham breathed his last and died at a good old age, an old man and full of years, and he was gathered to his people.

His sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah near Mamre, in the field of Ephron son of Zohar the Hittite,

Dear listeners,

Reading the bible or any religious text without studying other sources of historical context leaves one blind to a complete understanding of what they are reading. This is only for those who read religious texts at all. Most people just have them in their homes and follow what some told them from a pulpit or, nowadays, TikTok. I told someone the other day that Abraham didn't just banish Hagar and Ishmael to the wilderness as the incomplete text of the King James Version would have you believe. He, like most men of God, continued a FAMILY relationship with them. That is obvious in the fact that Ishmael and his brother, Isaac, buried him together. And if you really want to dive deep into this biblical family relationship. Genesis 25:1 says: “Abraham had taken another wife, whose name was Keturah.” Many of the rabbis of Jewish scripture believe that Keturah was, in fact, Hager, the slave woman whom Abraham married after the death of Sarah.

Now, while some of you already have your faces frowning up and your guns loaded. Understand that everything that I have written so far in this part 2 has been all biblical and backed by the Bible, the Torah, and the Quran. This is no made-up history.

However, AMERICA has a term called “A Blended Family.” Do you know who the number one”Blended Family” in America is? The Kardashians!

“The title of the most famous blended family in Hollywood has to go to the Kardashian-Jenners. Throughout their 23-year marriage, Kris and ex-Caitlyn (formerly known as Bruce) shared ten children together. Jan 6, 2023 (People)

“According to Celebrity Net Worth, a website that specializes in estimating how rich the stars are, the Kardashian-Jenner clan boasts a combined fortune that comfortably exceeds $2 billion. And it's Kim Kardashian, the family's most famous member, who has amassed the most significant individual wealth.”

I will leave that right there and let you think before I continue…
