Community Based Tourism
In 2016, I was recording a daily show on my Blog Talk Radio Channel, and the possibility of connecting to Africa was within my reach when a caller from The Gambia responded. It was then that I realized the Noo Covers media platform I was building was reaching far beyond my
little city of Wilmington, N.C. Using social media, I began to search and make connections to my long-lost brothers and sisters of Africa. Along this process, I realized that my long-lost brothers and sisters had been closer to me than I ever imagined. And immediately, Noo Covers Gambian Mission was born.
A few years ago, God blessed me to visit the country of The Gambia for the first time and participate in our first Gambian Rice Drop directly. When I arrived in the country, I fell enormously in love with it and its people. My first thought was about sharing the experience locally, nationally, and internationally. How much would it cost? What were the risks and safety requirements? What sites to visit? Where do I stay or eat?… etc. etc. etc. I know I had all the same questions, and I answered most of them for you. Welcome to our new project, Noo Covers Community Tourism.
“Community-based tourism (CBT) ensures that local communities have full ownership and management of the tourism experience so that the economic benefits of tourism stay within their community.” Noo Covers has adopted this model in hopes that it will provide you with an enjoyable experience while giving of yourself at the same time. I cannot tell you what an experience I get every time I do it. Reach out, and let us tell you more about the VISION!
